Sub-niche
A narrower slice within a niche — even more specific, usually less competitive and higher-converting.
A sub-niche is a subdivision of a broader niche that targets an even more specific angle, breed, profession or occasion. If "nurse" is the niche, "ER nurse", "nurse graduation" and "nurse Christmas" are sub-niches.
Sub-niches typically have lower search volume but also far less competition, and their buyers feel more personally spoken to — which lifts conversion. A common POD strategy is to enter through a sub-niche you can rank in, then expand outward once your shop has traction.
ExampleWithin the "teacher" niche, "kindergarten teacher" and "retiring teacher" are sub-niches with distinct, motivated buyers.
